If you thought the ready-to-drink world had already peaked, think again. Monsutā has dropped not one, but two seriously impressive additions to the lineup, and both make cracking open a can a moment to savour.

As our Monsutā review team uncovered when they put the two new sips to the test, Premium Highball and Purple Grape Chūhai may be worlds apart in flavour, but both nail that sweet spot between easy and elevated.

Whisky, made effortless

Monsutā Premium Highball Whisky, Citrus & Soda Highball is a crisp, clean and clever twist on mixed whisky drinks that perfectly suits the Australian climate.

“For someone who won’t usually reach for whisky, this premixed whisky is a lovely surprise. It is delicious and refreshing, greatly balanced with the citrus flavour and the bubbly soda. What a great alternative at our recent BBQ. Our guests enjoyed it and thought it was a nice change! Will be a hit in our household party this summer!”

Other fans have been quick to praise the drink’s balance between alcohol content and its refreshing flavour profile.

“Punchy but not over the top with alcohol content, the balance between the citrus and the whiskey flavour is spot on. Perfect for a “one and done” sort of person or someone who wants to sit on a drink and watch some form of entertainment. Leaves a good flavour in the mouth afterwards.”

True whisky taste with a dash of citrus.

For the whisky lovers who are dubious about enjoying their favourite spirit in an RTD format, consider your worries gone. Monsutā uses quality Japanese whisky for an authentic flavour that speaks for itself.

“Tried the Monsuta Whisky & Soda recently and honestly didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. It’s light, smooth and actually tastes like real whisky, not that artificial flavour some premix drinks have. The balance is spot on, not too sweet or too strong, just clean and really easy to drink. I had mine straight from the can and it was perfect after a hot day. Definitely one I’ll be keeping in the fridge this summer.”

Personality-packed!

While The Premium Highball has all the hallmarks of a classic warm-weather sip, Monsutā Purple Grape Chūhai is a true extrovert, with big flavour that’s impossible to miss. But it’s definitely not all sweetness in this sip.

“I really had no idea what to expect from these drinks but when I first opened the can I was hit with the smell of grape. The flavour reminded me of grape hubba bubba and it wasn’t overly sweet. The vodka, shochu and soda blend perfectly to create a refreshing, delicious drink which I will definitely purchase again.”

“When I first opened the can, I noticed a very pleasant grape aroma. Upon tasting it, the grape flavour really stood out and it reminded me of hubba bubba. I liked that the grape flavour wasn’t overly sweet, making the drink enjoyable rather than sickly.”

Your fridge called – it wants these!

And everyone is raving about the punch it packs!

“Normally, I don’t enjoy grape-flavoured drinks, but I was shocked at how delicious and easy this was to drink. It was super crisp and refreshing and had the perfect amount of grape flavour that wasn’t too overpowering and sweet. Considering this drink is 7.3% alcohol, it packs the perfect punch that leaves you wanting more. Would definitely recommend this drink to all my friends!”

  • There are so many ready to drink items out there nowadays. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to have a couple of dozen different ones in the fridge and guests could just reach in for “a surprise” choice to drink . The comments make the above ones in the article sounds tempting.

  • These two Monsuta drinks both sound like yin and Yang. Both very different but vibrant. I would be excited to try the purple grape flavoured drink. I don’t think I have ever come across a great flavoured alcoholic drink before. This one sounds very exciting. I love the fact that it doesn’t sound too sweet but still has that lively grape flavour. I will have to check it out at Dan Murphys.

  • This one definitely grabbed my attention when i saw it in the refridgerated section of my local Dan Murphys. Now, after reading a few of the reviews here on bestsips, it’s now on my list to try the next time i visit in store. Im not the biggest whiskey drinker but i have loved it when mixed so im keen!
