Supporting the reef

Lion Australia Sustainability Director, Justin Merrell explains that XXXX is playing an important role in preserving the future of Australia’s marine environment.

“We’re doing our part to ensure the next generation of Aussies can enjoy the good life and the reef. This includes being the first and only Australian beer brand to partner with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, a long-term million-dollar investment. We are committed to protecting the reef for future generations, and XXXX Tropical is a tangible expression of that commitment.”

The brewer will donate $100,000 to the Great Barrier Reef Foundation in celebration of the launch of XXXX Tropical Lager. These funds will help restore seagrass meadows, reinforcing the habitats of fish, turtles and dugongs around the area, an undertaking that Anna Marsden from the foundation says is imperative.

“The vital role seagrass meadows play in the health of our Reef cannot be overstated. They act as the ocean’s lungs, storing carbon, protecting our coasts and providing habitat for marine life such as endangered turtles and dugongs. Together, we can all help protect the Reef [NB1] and its incredible marine life for future generations.”

The taste of summer

Described by the brand as “a pale golden beer bursting with aromas of mango and passionfruit along with subtle citrus notes,” the lager captures the essence of Australian summer living. It has a crisp taste profile, balancing sweetness with hop bitterness.

The unmissable coral packaging, complete with silver-toned fish, is a nod to the colours of our precious reef.

  • What a perfect drink for a hot summers day in Australia!
The can colour and labelling is enticing and I believe would grab a new demographic to try and consume XXXX lagers. Would love to see this product not become just a limited time offer but have a permanent spot on shelves.

  • Wow, Beer has come such a long way nowadays with so many varieties and very different flavours. Great to see that this brand is committed to helping protect the Great Barrier Reef ad I hope the funds raised do help. “The Taste of Summer” description makes the falvour sound very appealing to me.

  • This is such an important cause and seeing a liquor brand on board with taking action and doing something to help aid our environment and the Great Barrier Reef is nothing short of impressive. If more alcohol brands can do good, being bigger, more global and more profitable, they should!

  • Supporting the health of the Great Barrier Reef is a very important cause. We still don’t know what the long term effects of climate change and coral bleaching is going to be. I applaud XXXX for taking this initiative and wish more companies would also support worthy causes. I’ll be buying this tropical lager.

  • I love a xxxx bitter and I’d really like to try these as I’ve been having sweeter drinks lately. The Great Barrier Reef is a good reason to drink lol I think my girlfriend might give beer a try too with the fruity flavours and the colour of the can is nice too.

  • I’m not a huge beer drinker but this is a fantastic cause and sounds like a great and refreshing summer drink. My son and partner would probably really enjoy it as they are beer drinkers. Such a great reason to buy beer too when they are donating to the Great Barrier Reef.

  • I am a sucker for packaging and this girly hot pink XXXX beer drew my eye! I love mango beer so wonder if I’d like this tropical version too. It’s nice to see large companies creating products for a cause too, he Great Barrier Reef Foundation is.a very worthy causes and so important to Australia and our tourism

  • I love that the brewer is going to donate money to this worthy charity and doing what they can to protect and look after this precious area. It packaging looks fun and summery and quite eye catching. I also like that it is easily accessible from bottle shops around Australia. Although I am not a fan of XXXX beer, I would be eager to try this to support a great cause.
