Zero alcohol spirits are drinks designed to taste like traditional spirits but without the booze. They’re made with botanicals, spices and natural extracts for complexity and depth.

Do zero alcohol spirits taste any good?

The best absolutely do! Favourite brands focus on quality ingredients and layered flavours, so they taste grown-up and complex, not sweet or bland.

Are zero spirits completely alcohol-free?

Most are 0.0% ABV or contain less than 0.5%, which is about the same as kombucha. Always check the label to be sure.

Can I use them in regular cocktail recipes?

Yes, just swap them in for the alcoholic spirit. You might need to adjust the sugar or citrus levels slightly depending on the brand.

Where can I buy zero alcohol spirits in Australia?

You’ll find them online through the brand’s website, at major bottle shops like Dan Murphy’s and in some supermarkets in the drinks aisle.

  • I really appreciate these non alcoholic spirits. I have family members who no longer drink and I don’t like to drink around them, so it gives us a fun mocktail to create that still has body and richness, not just a sugary glass. Also when I was pregnant and couldn’t handle any more raspberry and lemonades haha

  • I am not really sure what all the fuss is about with the zero alcohol thing. I think we are coming out with a lot of fancy brands and they are becoming just as expensive as the real thing and yet do not have all those extra taxes on them. I don’t see how they can justify the expense!

  • It’s really good that there are just so many non alcoholic drinks available out there nowadays. These bottle shops will need much bigger spaces! Thanks for the ideas there on what to make. I’m going to have to get creative the next time we have a get together and give some a try.

  • I love the variety of zero alcohol drinks coming out.
It’s great not just for if you are pregnant or designated driver but I often try to have month of alcohol so it’s nice when out with family and friends to be able to have something “special” instead of the old ginger beer or soda

  • So many different options of zero spirits. Looking at the bottles, you would never know either. Good to see alot of different options coming out with the same great taste.
Though I think I personally would like to stick to the ABV alcohol containing spirits.

  • Zero alcoholic drinks are becoming so popular these days, I have recently started having more and more types of non alcoholic drinks. I really love

  • I love the idea of zero proof alcoholic drinks! It’s such a clever way for people who do not wish to or can’t drink alcoholic beervages to feel included and enjoy the wonderful taste of so many cocktails and drinks. I have tried a few of the Lyre’s products before (branding suckered me in tbh!) and they’re so good! Thanks for sharing, I will have to look into some of the other suggestions too.

  • I love how this list has been posted so you can just come back and look at the article again and again whenever it is needed
I also enjoy that some quick recipes for mocktails have been written as well so it’s easier all in one spot
I definitely will be trying a few on this lost

  • These are so fantastic! I have a few loved ones in the family who don’t drink, and it can be hard finding a nice mocktail that gives the feeling of a proper drink. We have a wedding celebration coming up and I’ll be picking up the seadrift and artisan distillers bottles for the newlyweds!

  • I enjoy non alcoholic beer, where you get the beer taste without the alcohol. I’d love to try some of these non-alcoholic spirits to see how close they are to the alcoholic varieties. Very clever how they can do this.

  • I just don’t understand this. If you don’t want to drink alcohol, fine, I get it. So why not sip juice or coffee or lemonade? Why spend all this money on zero alcohol drinks just to look like you’re drinking alcohol

  • They all look enticing, especially the Abstinence Spirits and at an affordable price point too.

  • I haven’t tried a lot on non alcoholic drinks but I am noticing a lot of companies are offering this as an option as it is so lovely to see. I am intrigued and would be very keen to try a few of these. They look amazing for non drinkers and allows them to still enjoy something delicious.

  • I cant say ive ever really tried any of these non-alcoholic brands before but id definitely be keen to give them a go and compare them! If done right, and they taste exactly like the usual cocktail, this would make a great alternative for those still wanting to enjoy a drink without the alcohol!
