Is it the colour, the taste or the eye-catching bottle that’s got everyone so keen to wrap their tastebuds around Ube Cream? Turns out it’s all of the above, and now that it’s landed in Dan Murphy’s, it’s easier than ever to see what the hype is about.
Ube Cream is a multi-award-winning liqueur that’s been giving Baileys a serious run for its money over recent years for its rich, velvety flavour and unmistakable purple hue.
Popularity for the spirit exploded after it took out Double Gold at the SIP Awards in 2019. And subsequent major awards, including World’s Best Cream Liqueur in 2022, prove that this is a liqueur with far more going for it than unique looks.

What’s in it?
Proudly made in the Philippines by Destileria Barako, and an undisputed national icon, Ube Cream Liqueur blends Filipino Ube (the source of its famous colour!) with sugar cane spirit from Negros, coconut husk from Mindanao and luscious full cream.
The result is smooth, slightly nutty and rich without being overly sweet, making it just as good splashed into cocktails as it is poured over ice cream (yes, really).

How to drink Ube Cream Liqueur
The most popular way to drink Ube Cream is on the rocks. All you need is your favourite glass and lots of ice. Many fans also serve it with their milk of choice or poured straight into shot glasses.
But it also makes a great addition to many cocktails, bringing theatre and surprise to unlimited concoctions. Here are a few of the ways it’s being mixed up:
- Purple Russian – Ube Cream, coffee and vodka
- Ube Mudslide – Ube Cream, dark rum and coconut milk
- Ubest I Ever Had – Ube Cream, coconut rum and bourbon

Where to buy it in Australia
Ube Cream Liqueur is now available at Dan Murphy’s for $80 per 700ml bottle. It can also be found at Costco and select IGA Liquor and Cellarbrations stores around the country.
