    Easy to drink. Smooth and delicious

    I tried a glass of the Tamala by Cape Mentelle shiraz while preparing dinner.
    It’s a beautiful wine. Smells nice and fruity. So easy to drink.
    The rest of the bottle, I shared with my neighbour with a small grazing platter.
    It’s a nice rich wine and leaves a pleasant taste in your mouth.

    A great quality merlot

    This was a great quality Merlot. I really enjoyed drinking this and it was very smooth. It’s a great wine to pair with a winter dinner and will be sure to impress any guests. The price point of this is also a winner and so I would buy this again!

    Deliciously smooth, medium-bodied, drinkable shiraz

    Tamala Margaret River Shiraz is medium-bodied, delicious, smooth and drinkable. Love the colour, aroma, and the dark Berry flavour. A Shiraz that leave an amazing flavour on the palate and so smooth. Would recommend with a lamb roast, or even an afternoon charcuterie board. As it is smooth, it would be a great start for anyone not usually into red wine, and equally a lovely drop for those that are. Definately buying again.

    Mild, tasty, quality

    This product was easy to find on shelf and first thoughts was that I loved it. I like the pastel colours and the water/shore design. I shared this with my dad, partner & brother in law at my son’s birthday dinner. We had it with spaghetti and pizza. All 4 of us said the bottle was appealing, the taste was mild and not too fruity. We would purchase again especially for the price point and recommend to others.

    Beautiful Shiraz

    TAMALA Margaret River Shiraz is a beautiful rich,bold,fruity Shiraz. It has a nice pleasant after taste. I had a few glasses by the fire on a cold winters night with a fresh cheese board. Would definitely recommend and purchase again in future to enjoy any time of the year and would be great to have when entertaining guests.

    The perfect smooth red for easy dining!

    I recently tried the TAMALA Shiraz and absolutely loved it! It’s incredibly smooth, easy to drink, and has that perfect balance without feeling too heavy. I paired it with a homemade tuna pasta dish and the two went together beautifully. Definitely one I’d recommend trying!

    Lovely tasting wine

    It is a dry but very drinkable wine. It was full bodied and has a nice taste. It’s not sour like some wines. I had my wine with pizza and it was delicious. The price is affordable and conveniently available at Dan Murphy’s – as they have many locations. I will be purchasing this wine again on the future. Thankyou for my sample.

    Really easy to drink!

    I tried the Tamala Shiraz. It was a really beautiful wine! Its got beautiful Berry notes and is really smooth to drink with a really pleasant after-taste.

    Smooth and well rounded aftertaste

    Honestly, this Cabernet Merlot by TAMALA is such a gorgeous drop. Smooth, easy to drink, with lovely plum flavours and subtle toasted oak coming through. And at under $20, it’s incredible value.

    Paired it with slow-cooked beef and veggies for dinner, and it was honestly the perfect match. Definitely one I’d be happy to have in the wine rack again!

    Perfect with a Grazing Platter

    I enjoyed the TAMALA Cabernet Merlot with a little grazing platter for one and it was the perfect pairing. The wine was smooth, balanced and easy to drink, I think it’s well worth trying and excellent value.     Nice everyday red

    Light & Savoury for a Shiraz!

    I am typically a pinot noir drinker and prefer wines from the Yarra Valley in Victoria, so I was keen to try this one as it’s one I wouldn’t ordinarily choose for myself.
    I’m really pleasantly surprised! It’s relatively light for a shiraz and has a nice savoury finish without being too fruity/juicy (which I prefer).
    Had this with a warm lunch on a chilly day and it was perfect. For the price point it’s a great option and I would purchase it again for sure.

    Great affordable shiraz

    This Shiraz was a fresh tasting with sweet notes, full bodied and smooth with the perfect amount of dryness for my pallet. It was enjoyed by guests and myself over dinner and was a hit of the night. I would definitely recommend this wine and give it a 4 out of 5 stars. It is great for a winter’s night sitting by a fire.

    Smooth and easy to drink

    Smooth delicious and easy to drink both with and without food drink without food. Very well rounded, not necessarily sweet but with a balanced level of tannins. Feels medium body to me and has a pleasant mouth feel and juicy blackcurrant flavour. I also tried chilling it to just below room temperature and that gave it a more fresh and clean profile.

    Perfect for a winter dessert decadence.

    Typically I am not a wine drinker, however as a chef I love to cook with a really good red wine.

    The Cabernet Merlot, was nice and fruity on opening, with hints of spice, I decided to make Red Wine Spiced Poached Pears.

    The cooked down flavours held up really well and I got a full bodied flavourful, rich decadent dessert.

    I will happily purchase this wine again, to make many other dishes, next on the list is mulled wine, and I am keen to try it in a Beef Bouganion.

    Overall, nice and semi sweet, fruity and spiced red, without the overpowering tannins I have had from others.

    Classic Dry Red

    We absolutely loved trying the TAMALA Shiraz! It is the ultimate classic, dry red wine.     Nice mid range Shiraz

    I enjoyed the Tamala Shiraz with my mother in law. It had sweet berry notes at the beginning and finished with a mid to medium bodied finish. I normally enjoy bolder Shiraz’s and this was definitely lighter than normal, however it was still enjoyable to drink. I think if it was cellared for a few years for the flavours to develop more it would rate higher for me.

    We really enjoyed this bottle of Shiraz with our dinner. Perfect for those warm, cozy nights. It was smooth, full of flavour and the paired well with our steak.     Great value, easy to drink Shiraz

    Shiraz is my favorite red to drink and I love finding great value bottles. I brought this with me to enjoy with friends over dinner. The first pour was quite dry and the flavours were very mild but after breathing for a while the flavours improved and came through stronger. Very easy to drink, smooth and great value.

    A smooth rich Shiraz

    As a Shiraz lover I am always a little hesitant to try new brands (from different regions), as I have my favourites locked and loaded and I tend to sway toward Clare Valley for a Shiraz. The Tamala was a great surprise, smooth and rich, and really easy to drink. If you’re scared of a Shiraz being too full bodied, this is a nice introduction to the category. Throughly enjoyed and will be a repurchase!

    A particularly unique Shiraz!

    Tamala Shiraz by Cape Mentelle has a unique flavour like I’ve quite literally, never tasted!
    It’s added minerality from the limestone adds a particularly salty finish to an otherwise less than fruity vibe which made it “heavy” to swallow. I can imagine it’s rather specific in it’s ability to pair well with different foods. I enjoyed it’s robustness on its own and found it warmed my soul.
    I recommend for the more ‘adventurous’ of wine lovers, it’s not for the faint of heart.

    Jammy nose, oak forward palette

    The initial look of the bottle is very nice, elegant design and something that would be well received at dinner parties.

    The initial pour gives a dark rich red colour in the glass and the nose is berry and jammy, smelling quite delicious with some cinnamon spice undertones.

    For the first sip, its very oak forward giving a robust spice that eventually fades as some of those red fruit notes come through.

    Overall its quite a savoury experience, its clear that this is a drink that will stand up well to a rich hearty dish like a steak or lamb in a red wine sauce, balancing it out well rather than being lost.

    Worth a try, I’ve already purchased a second bottle of this one!

    Had this Shiraz tonight and thought it was delicious. Nice and robust flavour. Beautiful red that would go well with any dinner. Went well with my roast…perfectly paired.     A much lighter and not as smooth Shiraz than I usually drink, but to be expected for the price point. Great value and went fine with the lamb ragu I had it with. Would have bought a wine like this in my 20’s, but probably wouldn’t buy again in future.

    A really great value red.

    This is a tasty red wine that pairs especially well with rich food. It’s medium-bodied and pleasantly dry. To my taste, it has some sweetness, which is offset by fruity notes. There is definitely dark fruit in there – plum, red berries – as well as a splash of spice. It’s smooth and drinkable, but there is also an element of crispness, which is lovely. We paired it with pork sausages and a winter salad and found it to be a very nice accompaniment. I also think it would work well with roast pork, lasagne or a beef burger with duck fat fries.

    A smooth, affordable, easy to drink Cab Merlot

    I really enjoyed ‘Tamala’ Cape Mentelle Cabernet Merlot because it was so smooth and light to drink. I could taste the fruity flavours of plum and blackcurrant that were extenuated by the slightly oaky undertones. I did find it little dry but with all the bold flavours it doesn’t take away from the cab merlot’s enjoyability.
    Very easily paired with most meals due to it being a light and smooth drink. Perfect with rich meats all the way to a chacutterie board. I have enjoyed it with both and it’s versatility makes it a perfect wine for a quick and complimenting pairing choice.
    Definitely a wine you can enjoy on any occasion, it goes down so smoothly
    I also appreciate the price point which makes it a quality red for general entertaining whilst still feeling a bit special.

    A delicious and rich Shiraz

    This Shiraz really surprised me. It was rich and bold, but still with the delicate portrayal. The Heritage in the story behind the Brand also gives this wonderful variety. It’s uniqueness. I thoroughly enjoyed this pad with a delicious dinner of steak and potatoes and greens. I’m not usually one for a full bodied Shiraz, but this was beautiful.

    Well rounded full bodied red

    This red has a great mouth feel and pairs extremely well with red meat. Is an all rounder and can be enjoyed on a variety of occasions like bbqs, paired at dinner or just to wind down.
    There is a slight sharpness as the wine hits the tongue but the taste and after taste are worth it.

  • TAMALA Cabernet Merlot Review

    TAMALA by Cape Mentelle Cabernet Merlot is an absolute winner!

    It’s deliciously smooth and not overly heavy. We paired it with slow cooked meatball pasta with a rich tomato sauce and it was a match made in heaven.

    It’s also a great price point, this is an easy choice for a midweek wine. Something that tastes delicious and is very easy to enjoy. I’ll definitely be buying this again and I’m intrigued to try the Shiraz.

    Smooth drink

    I tried the Tamala Cabernet Merlot with a beef Ragu that I made. The drink was smooth and easy. I even poured a dash into my Ragu. It’s great to have on a quiet night with the family and shared with friends. Will definitely be purchasing this in the future. It was a good price point too.

    Very smooth and drinkable! Yum!

    Really nice red wine – smooth and paired well with steak and vegetables. Added bonus that it didn’t make my face and neck red like a lot of other full bodied wine. Will definitely buy again!

    Not bad. But not great.

    Not a bad wine but wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase again. Decent enough for a weeknight drink – but nothing special either. In all fairness, cab merlot isn’t my usual choice of red, so that may be a factor.. Overall, would I drink it if it was the only red on the table? For sure. But would I pick it off the shelf myself? Probably not.

    Mild, tasty, quality

    This product was easy to find on shelf and first thoughts was that I loved it. I like the pastel colours and the water/shore design. I shared this with my dad, partner & brother in law at my son’s birthday dinner. We had it with spaghetti and pizza. All 4 of us said the bottle was appealing, the taste was mild and not too fruity. We would purchase again especially for the price point and recommend to others.

    Beautiful Shiraz

    TAMALA Margaret River Shiraz is a beautiful rich,bold,fruity Shiraz. It has a nice pleasant after taste. I had a few glasses by the fire on a cold winters night with a fresh cheese board. Would definitely recommend and purchase again in future to enjoy any time of the year and would be great to have when entertaining guests.

    Perfect dinner night pairing Shiraz!

    I really enjoyed trialing the TAMALA Margaret River Shiraz.

    Just as described, it opens with blackberry, dark plum notes, and a sweet oak spice. It has a smooth finish and leaves a lasting note of oaky plum on your palette, complemented with notes of floral. I found this Shiraz great for pairing with those cozy winter night meals (beef stew, pasta and pizza!).

    I really enjoyed the bottle and would recommend it to others. A new winter fav!

    “pour me another glass” kind of wine 🍷

    This is one of those reds that just disappears a bit too quickly. Super smooth, not too strong, nice dark fruit flavour without being overpowering. Easy to drink, easy to pair with food, and honestly just a solid “pour me another glass” kind of wine.

    Great taste wine

    I really enjoyed this wine. It has a smooth, rich flavour with plenty of ripe fruit and just the right amount of spice. It’s easy to drink, not too heavy, and pairs really well with dinner or a relaxing evening. I’d definitely have it again.

    Easy drinking wine

    Super smooth, easy to drink and one of those reds that doesn’t need a special occasion✨ It’s giving blackcurrant and plum flavours with a subtle hint of toasted oaky spice that makes it feel just a little bit fancy without being over the top🥂

    I’m pairing it with good old bangers and mash and honestly it’s the perfect midweek combo👌🏻
    Definitely one I’ll be grabbing again for those “what’s for dinner?” kind of nights, might just forget the food and go straight for the wine tbh
    If you’re after an easy drinking red for a cosy night in, this one’s worth adding to the trolley! ❤️🍷

  • TAMALA Shiraz Review

    This is a wonderful Shiraz, especially for the price point. I really like the smooth, full flavour and found it very easy to drink. The flavour pairs nicely with a winter dinner. It’s really enjoyable to drink and one I’d definitely repurchase again. I would recommend to others for an everyday/night red!

    Worth trying

    This was a decent red for the price. It was a little drier than I normally like, but it was still enjoyable and easy to drink with dinner. I don’t think it would become my favourite wine, but I’d buy it again because it’s good value and a solid option for an everyday red.
