Love a bit of zing in your brew? The iconic Australian beer brand, XXXX, has just launched its first ginger beer with big flavour and less alcohol.

Ginger beverages are booming right now. From ginger ale to ginger gin, wine and ginger-infused spiced rum, there’s no shortage of options on the table. But for those who want real ginger flavour with low ABV, XXXX’s new-release Ginger Beer brings the balance.

Ginger beer with a difference

Brewed at the iconic Castlemaine Brewery, this new release is more than just another beer from a famous brand. At 3.5% ABV, it offers a considerably lighter alternative to many other ginger beers (which reach up to 6.9%) and appeals to sippers in search of a light beverage.

Packed with real ginger, it bridges the gap between beer and premixes, giving flavour-seekers a smooth new sip made especially for easy drinking.

“Over our 146-year history, XXXX has continued to evolve to reflect the way Australians like to drink. XXXX is known for full-flavoured but easy-drinking beers and XXXX Ginger Beer is an exciting new addition to our lineup. Crafted with real ginger juice, it delivers a crisp, refreshing taste with a 3.5% ABV. We’re confident it will resonate with beer lovers and ginger beer enthusiasts alike.”

Made for moderation

According to Donohue, changing consumer preferences steered the development of XXXX Ginger Beer. The brand wanted to satisfy the growing demand for ginger beer products with lower alcohol.

“We wanted to create something that not only delivers on flavour but also offers an easy drinking option. XXXX Ginger Beer is perfect for relaxed social occasions, whether it’s an afternoon barbecue, a day at the beach, or catching up with mates. It’s an exciting step for XXXX as we continue to expand our portfolio to suit the way Australians drink today.”

The new release follows the limited-edition summer launch of XXXX Tropical Lager, which supports the preservation of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

  • Big ginger beer fan , and loving the option of less alcohol content !

  • Ginger beer is so nice on a hot summers day, it is so crisp and refreshing. I really like that they have gone with a low alcoholic option as i know myself, I am more interested in drinks that are either low in alcohol or do not have any alcohol. I am very interested in trying this.

  • I love ginger beer both at home and when I go out. It’s non alcoholic at home but I do love alcoholic ginger beer when I’m out. Pub prices are ridiculously high though, so I will buy this XXXX ginger beer and see how it compares. I must say I also love the colourful can packaging.

  • Ginger beer is usually my go to in summer when we have a date at the pub. It’s easy to drink and on tap it’s icy cold so perfect on a balmy afternoon/evening.

  • Im not a huge fan of ginger beer but my husband really likes it so I’m sure he’d be keen to give these a go. The lower alcohol content is also super handy for those after a lighter beer. I’m sure these will become option for a lot of people.

  • Im actually seeing more and more ginger beer hitting the shelves in the last couple of years! I didnt think they were that popular but everytime they pop up, im proven wrong. It’s not my personal preference of drink choices but my hubby loves a good ginger beer. Love that this brand supports the Great Barrier Reef too

  • My husband isn’t a beer drinker but it very partial to a ginger beer so I feel like this would be a great option for him! I like that its local too, This wold be great in an alcoholic punch too; add some lemonade, canned fruit and some OJ and deliciousness!
